A message from Kathy Facione
Just a reminder about the Coat Drive for our next Humanitarian Activity. When you are doing your fall cleaning and finding coats that are too small, etc. please think of the coat drive. The coats don't have to be new, but they do need to be clean and in good condition. You can bring them to church Oct. 11 through November 15th and give them to Mary Hatch or a member of the Relief Society presidency. Have a great week!
Love,
Kathy

Lesson 5-6
Small, brown, ugly, doesn't usually catch your eye, throwaway, etc…
Some times you may look at yourself and think those things. But a seed is a continual process. Seeds grow, becomes a tree, and produces more apples. We are also a continual process; we grow, become stronger, get married, have a family: motherhood, and so on.
You can experience joy at any stage, but today focus on joy in potential. Think about the joy of where you are at right now:
· Being in Young Women’s
· Sisterhood
· Experiencing new things
· School
· Friends
· Getting to know my to-be-friends
· Getting closer to others…
PERSONAL PROGRESS BOOK
- Proverbs 31:10-31 (Virtuous Woman)
- Read a talk on womanhood: “The Joy of Womanhood” –Margaret D. Nadauld-
It is important to be happy now by making correct decisions and by following Jesus Christ. We must do that now, not at some future time when our present problems may be solved or when our dreams and wishes may come true. In this world of trials and challenges, that idealistic time may never come. True joy and peace are available at any time of life to all those who live as their Heavenly Father wants them to live. The gospel guides and blesses our lives by helping us understand our divine roles and potential as women.

LIGHT KEEPERS

(Elaine S. Dalton (center), president; Mary N. Cook (left), first counselor; and Ann M. Dibb, second counselor)
"Many of life’s lasting successes are built on a foundation of doing small things consistently over a long period of time. These three things are small and simple, but remember, “By small and simple things are great things brought to pass” (Alma 37:6). We know you will discover the blessings of doing these three things daily. And if you forget one day, you can start again the next day.
"We testify that if you will pray, read the Book of Mormon, and smile daily, you will be blessed for your efforts and you will be an example of the believers—a young woman who can make a difference in the world."

The High Acheiver, "Wo is me."
A girl was complaining to her friend about all the things that she has to do and go through. Her friend responded, "How about trying to live 24 hours as if Christ were right next to you, seeing all that you do."
The girl agreed to the suggestion. The first incident was when she had to set the table for dinner. The girl realized the table clothe that she was setting out was soiled from the night before. "Hmm, if Christ were here...I better lay out a new table clothe."
The second incident was when she and her brother started bickering to one another. "I bet if Christ were here he wouldn't want us to bicker." So the girl decided to play nice with her brother.
The third incident, people at work were being mean by picking on her. "If Christ were here he would be patient, so I should be patient too."
After the 24 hours had past, the girl realized that she was happier during that time. She realized that when becoming more Christ-like she was happy.
"If we keep reminders of Christ in our lives, we can make choices that He would want us to choose so that we can be happy too." -Jessica DaBell-
Below are the words that Sister DaBell has on a tile decor that she keeps in her home as a reminder:
CHRIST
IS THE CENTER OF OUR HOME
A GUEST AT EVERY MEAL,
A SILENT LISTENER TO
EVERY CONVERSATION
CHALLANGE: Live 24 hours as if Christ is in your presence the whole time.

Heavenly Father "nurtured and knows us and taught us well."
Job 38: 4-7
God's love for us: Eternal and unchanging. What are some blessings we have that shows His love for us?
YW responses: He sent us to earth so that we could return for him. He also sent His only begotten son, Jesus Christ, so that Jesus could atone for our sins. That way, it would be possible for us to return to Him.
Heavenly Father provides:
John 14: 16-18----Comfort
Jacob 4: 10---------Counsel
Mathew 7: 7-11---Help & Understandment
John 3: 16----------Everlasting Life
If we know that we are daughters of our Heavenly Father, we'll look towards Him for quidance.
"The truth is... man is a child of God-a God in embryo. ...That man is a child of God is the most important knowledge available to mortals." (Marion G. Romney, in Conference Report, Apr. 1973, p. 136; or Ensign, July 1973, p. 14).
"I would charge you to say again and again to yourselves, ... 'I am a [daughter] of God' and by so doing begin today to live closer to those ideals which will make your life happier and more fruitful because of an awakened realization of who you are." (Harold B. Lee, in Conference Repot, Oct. 1973, p. 10; or Ensign, Jan. 1974, p. 6).
You can improve your desire for Heavenly Father by:
Praying -----(diligently & often)
Obedient ----(follow His teachings)
Service -----(missionary service, daily missions, act of service towards those in need, etc.)
Goals -------(set a goal or several, write down what you need to do to accomplish them)
Values ------(Young Women Values) etc.
- Praying
- Love one another
- Keep Heavenly Father in your life a constant
- Understand Him
- Forgive others
- Repent etc.
Remember, struggling is part of life on earth, a test.
Ways to learn from Heavenly Father:
- Daily scripture study
- Stake presidency
- Prophets
- Attend church each Sunday
- Tithing
- Fasting etc.
Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you; seek me diligently and ye shall find me; ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
I looked in the mirror the other day--
